FESTIVAL is back with the spirit of joie de vivre of a traditional
festival and colours of autumn fused together. Conceptualized and
presented by Arti Bagdy, the exhibition will be held at Hotel
Chola Sheraton, Cathedral road, on 10th and 11th of August 2007
between 10am to 8pm, bringing together 25 talented budding
and established designers from all over the country to display a
wealth of innovative designs for the festive season.
Fashion inspired by traditional festivities is the theme for the
exhibition. The participating designers are from Delhi, Mumbai,
Kolkata, Bangalore and Jaipur. On display will be a wide range -
from clothes to jewellery , home décor to lifestyle products.
The ensembles feature bright tones such as turquoise, red and orange,
with a reasonable amount of other colours as well .The designers
have concentrated on thread work with hints of sequins and include
resham, ribbon, gold foil , twisted gota and pita work in their
collection.
Madhavi Goenka launches her collection for the very first time in
Chennai. Her forte is hand-embroidered dhaga sarees with antique
resham in vibrant colour combinations that can be handed down over
generations. The pret line consists of tunics for day wear and club
wear.She retails from some really top fashion stores in India ,US
and Canada.
Raja from Chhutis launches for the very first time a limited edition
of eco friendly salwar kameezes and saris with impressive blouses
which are as single pieces in each design for this festive season.
Kalakriti who retails from stores like Folio is showcasing her pret
collection of block printed salwar kameezes.
Sequined tunics teamed with embroidered bottoms and coordinated
dupattas, skirts in mid and long lengths form part of the collection
of Molly Designs from Mumbai.
Suram Fashions from Delhi , Aaina, Waves and Anushka’s from
Kolkata and Devaki’s from Bangalore along with Pranam who
is designing for the likes of Shobha De, will unfold a festive collection
of saris and designer angarkha style salwar kameezes.
Shubh - Prabha will flaunt her latest collection of festive traditional
handcrafted benarasi sarees .
The fabrics include crepes, georgettes, silks and cotton weaves.
Saris are teamed with fancy blouses in contrasting hues, in fabrics
such as crepes and cotton tussar, replete with copper and bronze
embroidery on the body and the sleeves.
Zebaish from Mumbai, Jesia and Poshaak from Delhi, Kiah Fashions
and Maple from Chennai bring the very latest in unstitched fabrics
and ready salwar kameezes. Sheetal from Delhi takes you through
a journey of suits in Pakistani concepts with delicate lace and
crochet work. Saanskrutie from Kutch brings together ethnic and
mirror studded range of embroidered dresses.
Completing and complimenting the ensemble are accessories like evening
clutches, exclusive handbags and designer precious and silver jewelry
put together by ANZ, Precious Collection and Karishma from Mumbai.
Studio Pottery from Delhi showcases tableware and other items in
ceramics which are hand painted and Pods from Jaipur unfurls coordinated
bedspreads and cushion covers for your homes.
