It is Ganesha all the way.

Ganesha with a Computer'Ganesh Utsav' at the Heritage showcases the Lord in various moods and actions. The varied collection includes Brass, Bronze, Copper, Wood, Glass, Terracotta, panels, murals, Tanjore paintings and glass paintings of the Lord.

The eye-catchers are the wonderfully crafted idols in different moods. You have Ganesha rowing a boat, performing puja, racing a cool bike, fishing, operating a computer with two mouses (both virtual and real) and even playing cricket!

These unique terracotta creations come with plywood bases that provide better support. The prize range of the terracotta collection is Rs.1,500/- to Rs.2,000/-. All these works were crafted by the in-house artists of Heritage and they have used imported paint for the idols.

The exhibition is from August 16th to September 1st.

ART EXHIBITION - A Review

By Susai RajAn exhibition of paintings by M. X. Susai Raj and B. G. Magendran is on at Vinyasa Art Gallery from August 16th to 21st.

Susai Raj has been conducting exhibitions from 1963. His works have adorned many galleries across the country. He is also the recipient of many awards and prizes.

His paintings in the Vinyasa, are mainly semi-abstract, with subtle colour shadings." My work", he says, "is usually based on Indian culture and about the common man." One of his masterpieces was a painting on freedom fighters, which was exhibited at the National Exhibition of Art, New Delhi. In his words, " A painting should get the message across to people."

By MagendranMagendran has been exhibiting his works from 1979. He is also a renowned art director in Tamil film industry.

His paintings are an explosion of colours, with predominant usage of orange and red. His paintings are abstract, with vivid colour shadings. Infact, his works are a contrast to Susai Raj's more subtle paintings.

Both the artists have very distinct styles. Infact, when you enter the exhibition hall, you can instantly tell the difference.
