Stetter India Private Limited (SSIPL) inaugurated their state
of the art manufacturing facility at Irungattukottai near Chennai
recently. The Rs18 crore facility will design and manufacture
the entire range of equipment meant for concrete preparation, transportation
and placement. SSIPL is a 100 % subsidiary of the German based
DM1 billion Schwing Group of Companies, who are the world
leaders in the manufacture of machinery for Ready Mix Concrete (RMC)
and the construction industry. The Indian facility at Chennai
is the ninth owned manufacturing facility of the Schwing group.
The facility will manufacture concrete batching plants, truck mixers,
concrete pumps and concrete recycling plants. In addition
to these, it will also have the following facilities -automatic
shot blasting, hydraulic testing lab and a global design centre.
The facility has a 1,00,000 sq ft built up area and over 1,00,000
sq ft of open space fully concreted. An additional space of 2,00,000
sq. ft. is also available for future expansion.

Sundaresan, Executive Director, SSIPL, said that, the main aim
of setting up the facility was to give all their customers value
for money. "Our latest technology and proven standards
are well accepted globally and we are proud to have brought the
same for our Indian customers. Our facility at Irungattukottai meets
all the quality requirements of our parent company," he said.
P Ramesh, General Manager - Marketing, SSIPL, answering
a question said that, the percentage of indigenisation varied from
product to product, ranging from 30% to 70%. He also mentioned
that the company had been able to reduce by as much as 40%, the
price of some products because of increased indigenisation.
"In the process of higher indigenisation, the company has created
about 90 vendors for supply of quality products. The company has
a separate Quality Control Department working in close co-ordination
with the parent company to ensure high degree of quality standards.
As a policy, the company provides training to the Production Engineers
and Quality Control Engineers at Germany," added V G Sakthi
Kumar, Deputy General Manager - Marketing, SSIPL.

Stetter India, apart from servicing the existing equipment in neighbouring
countries is exporting engineering drawings and designs from Chennai
to other group companies. For this purpose, the company has set
up a Design and Software Centre registered as a Software Technology
Park. The software projects include development of micro-processor
based control system for batching plant and other industry related
projects.
According to M Subramanian, Chief Financial Officer, SSIPL,
with the inauguration of the factory at Irungattukottai, Schwing
Stetter India has targeted a gross turnover of Rs 57 crores, a growth
of 48% compared to the previous financial year and a net turnover
of Rs 51 crores.
